District PRSA Conference Dovetails With Annual Portland Communicators Conference

This year’s PRSA North Pacific District conference will be held in conjunction with the annual Portland Communicators Conference, May 7-8 in (you guessed it) Portland, OR.

Conference description:

Joel Stein, a columnist for the Los Angeles Times and a regular contributor to TIME and VH1, will open this year’s conference with a humorous keynote on intergenerational differences — from Twittering to texting, nothing is sacred. For information on our other fabulous speakers, please click on the speaker menu to view their bio and link to their sites.

The closing keynote speaker is Ronald J. Alsop, a columnist at The Wall Street Journal and author of the books The Wall Street Journal Guide to the Top Business Schools and The 18 Immutable Laws of Corporate Reputation: Creating, Protecting, and Repairing Your Most Valuable Asset. He also has served as editor of the Journal’s Marketplace page and works closely with leading research firms that measure corporate brands and reputations.

OCIABC and PRSA Portland have formed a partnership with the North Pacific District Chapter of PRSA to include communications professionals from Alaska, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. The event will take place over two days — May 7-8 — at the Holiday Inn (soon to be Crowne Plaza Hotel) just across the river from picturesque downtown Portland.

The theme this year is “From Typewriter to iPhone: Being Heard by Multiple Generations.” Attendees will benefit from the latest insights on communicating with and working alongside people from different age groups.

Bonus: The regional conference of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) will be held the day before the main conference kicks off. This is an excellent opportunity for networking and professional development for college juniors and seniors.
